Amy was already in the food world when she moved to New York City to obtain her masters in Food Studies at NYU. Before that, she was in Colorado working on a non profit farm that taught kids about farming, cooking, and everything in between. Once in NYC, she realized that there was a gap in the market: no one was making a high quality, fresh, and local chai tea concentrate. Thus, Dona Chai was born! As to the name Dona, it is remembrance of a favorite doll Amy used to have tea parties with.
Dona Chai values sustainability. After each batch of chai is brewed, all of their ingredients are composted locally at the Brooklyn Grange.
